Granada Desk
Granada Desk
Fifteenth century Spain was a country rich in cultural diversity which bore an artistic expression called Mudejar. Mudejar reflected the Islamic traditions brought to Spain from North Africa and was combined with various European styles, particularly Gothic. Through the years this influence appears in architecture, ceramics, and has found its way to furniture as well. The name Granada comes from the city in Spain known for its medieval architecture. The Museum of International Folk Art in New Mexico is home to a piece of furniture in the Mudejar style, which was the inspiration for our hand chip-carved Granada Desk.
