Product Care

Our furniture, lighting + home décor pieces are designed with longevity in mind, and with regular care can be enjoyed for generations to come.  All our products are made of natural materials and thus will change over time subject to environmental factors like humidity, temperature, and placement. To maintain the look and integrity of each piece, we recommend following the guidelines. In most cases, natural materials prefer simple cleaners and mild castile soap applied with a natural fiber cloth or sponge.

Rattan (Indoor)

Spot clean with a soft cloth using a soapflake solution (1 teaspoon of soap flakes dissolved in 4 cups of hot water). Avoid standing or kneeling on woven furniture to prevent breakage. If you live in a dry climate, woven furniture can be lightly misted with a spray bottle once a month and hydrated annually with boiled linseed oil.

Rattan (Outdoor)

Keep covered during inclement weather and store indoors while not in use. When placing rattan outside, which we encourage, expect the solid rattan pole and rattan peel to grey and gather dirt, dust and moss.  We recommend washing products with a high-pressure combination or water and soap flake or mild detergent. Use a sponge and WOCA Exterior Deep Cleaner if you are looking for an off-the-shelf product. Rattan will grey eventually if not refinished, but the structural integrity of the material is not diminished given how fibrous rattan is. Natural materials are expected to grey or patina over time.

Teak (Indoor)

Teak oil will come to the surface over time and the wood will continue to grow in depth and sheen.  The longer teak is indoors, the more impervious to moisture it will become.  Clean with a teak cleaner using a soft bristle brush.

Teak (Outdoor)

New sanded teak has a golden honey color that will develop a natural silver-gray patina as it ages. The change in color is purely cosmetic and does not indicate any change to the strength or durability of the wood. To maintain the original color, you can use specialized teak cleaners, such as plant safe WOCA Exterior Cleaner. Follow the directions provided by the manufacturer for the best results.  Wipe down all surfaces of the teak upon receipt of your piece, including underneath the frame or table, with soapy water prior to placing the new cushions on top. This will help prevent natural teak oil from staining the cushion fabric. To clean natural teak oil from cushion fabric, quickly combine equal parts of dishwashing liquid and warm water on the stain and rinse thoroughly.

Oak, Acacia, Walnut, Mango Wood

Clean with water applied along the grain with a soft, damp cloth and dry immediately. For scratches and scuffs, apply a finish restoring solution or a stain marker. Test in an inconspicuous area to ensure proper color match.

Upholstery Linen Fabric

Linen can be laundered in cold to normal water and hung to dry. If using a tumbler dryer, dry on medium to low heat. For stains, soak in a soap-and-ammonia mixture and avoid chlorine bleach which may damage the fibers.

Upholstery Boucle Fabric

Boucle is dry clean only, do not wash or bleach. Iron at a max heat of 110* C, tumble dry at low temperatures.

Upholstery (Recycled Fabric)

This fabric is durable, colorfast, and stain resistant with high Martindale rubs. Start by using the brush attachment on a conventional vacuum to remove dirt, dust and pet hair.  For stains make a solution of 1 teaspoon mild laundry detergent (soap flake), 1 teaspoon of white vinegar, and 1 quart of warm water. Test on a small, discreet section of the sofa first. Use a light dabbing motion to apply the solution with a microfiber towel following up with a clean cloth dipped and wrung out with cold fresh water to rinse away the solution.

Upholstery (Outdoor Fabric)

Poly fabric is durable, colorfast, stain and water-resistant. First, brush off loose dirt and spray on a cleaning solution of water and mild soap, allow the cleaning solution to soak into the fabric before using a soft bristle brush to scrub fabric and stains.  Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed and air dry.
