A Natural Home
Taylr Anne Castro
Sometimes, we’re called to make a change in the way we live our lives. The birth of a child, a health journey, or simply a slow-growing ache for beauty, ease, rest—moments that stir within us a desire to pare back and soften the edges. To bring the outside in. A natural home is about more than materials or aesthetics, important though they may be. Rather, it’s about creating grounded, warm and restorative spaces that have a positive effect on how we feel, and bring us closer to nature.
Taylr Anne Castro is a storyteller of the senses—an artist whose lens captures life in soft light and quiet beauty. Born and raised in the sun-drenched landscapes of Newport Beach, California, Taylr’s journey began with brushstrokes on canvas before evolving into photography, a medium through which she now paints with light and feeling.
As a creator, Taylr is known for curating more than a digital story—it’s a love letter to intentional living. From morning bathing rituals to golden-hour strolls with her son and husband Canon, each post whispers of presence, simplicity, and connecting to nature.
Where in nature do you find inspiration?
I find all of my inspiration in nature. Everything is connected—there’s a rhythm and repetition to nature that feels grounding and deeply comforting. That sense of connection shows up in how I live my day-to-day, my style and how I create a home—it’s all woven together. Nature teaches me to be present. It’s a quiet guide, reminding me to embrace stillness and seek beauty in the everyday.
How do you find fulfillment in everyday moments or rituals?
Fulfillment comes through creating intentional space in my day— taking time to make my matcha in the morning, walking and playing outside with my son, prioritizing wellness rituals daily. These pauses are grounding, especially in the midst of motherhood and creative work. I try to approach each day with presence and gratitude, and those moments become their own kind of meditation.
Tell us the story of your home - from its sense of place, or how you have transformed it to become an expression of you?
Our home is a reflection of slow living. My husband and I created our backyard as our sanctuary— our sauna, outdoor shower, wood burning hot tub, garden and outdoor seating have all become places that hold my favorite rituals— where we can reset, reconnect, and return to ourselves. Inside our home, it’s filled with warmth, textures and tones that bring ease: natural woods, linen, soft light. It’s a space meant to be lived in deeply— to hold our family, our rituals, and the life we are intentionally building.
How do you choose which items become part of your home? Are provenance and materials important to you?
Absolutely. I believe in fewer, better things. I choose items that are sustainably made, with natural materials and a story behind them. I love collecting things when we travel or displaying precious mementos like rocks and shells my son brings home. Whether it’s a handmade ceramic bowl or vintage linen, everything in our home is a curation of things we love.
For us, home is somewhere between a place and a feeling. Describe your home in 3 words?
Grounded. Warm. Intentional.
What seeds are you sowing this spring, personally, creatively or otherwise?
I’m leaning into my creative work and continuing to build a life that aligns with my passions, allowing things to unfold without rushing. I’m spending more time learning about wellness and longevity lately, and weaving those insights into my everyday life. Personally, I’m also tending to rhythms that support my wellbeing as a mother, like daily movement and rest.
Living naturally means….
Being in connection with nature in every area of life.
