Natura Outdoor Sofa

We designed every aspect of Natura to feel, look, and be easy. From the moment your pieces arrive (flat-packed to lighten our shipping imprint) they assemble in moments without tools, hardware, or confusing instructions thanks to our innovative slot and clip system.  The back and corner frames slot into the base sections, while the clips are used on modular configurations and help secure and keep the pieces in place. We like to say rattan is our muse at Woven. This regenerative, versatile material comes from the climbing palm family found in tropical regions like Southeast Asia and South America and has been used for centuries for its beauty, strength, and durability. Rattan is a fast-growing plant and can be harvested without causing damage to the forest canopy.  The harvesting process is carefully managed to ensure rattan is collected responsibly and the plants are maintained for regeneration.  Now, not all rattan is created equal.  We source the highest grade, and most sustainable Indonesian Manau rattan that is expertly shaped and woven by hand. 

A natural material, rattan thrives in all sorts of conditions and has built in performance and durability. Rattan is made from long, fibrinous strands that make it incredibly strong, and durable to the elements, use and time. Additionally, rattan has a natural protective outside layer that prevents infestation from bugs, absorption of water and effects of UV exposure, making it an ideal choice for outdoor furniture.   

At Woven, we believe in mindful choices.  The future depends on what we do now, and we can all do better. By using natural and regenerative materials, we minimize the amount of pieces that end up in the land fill.  Our mission is to create long-lasting furniture that can one day go gently back to the earth.

Our fabric is upcycled from recycled single use bottles reclaimed from the waste stream. The plastic is then processed into pellets and then spun into yarn.  Our fabrics are made under Global Recycle, Oeko-Tex 100, and Reach Standards. This means our fabrics are manufactured under strict sustainability standards and rigorously tested for harmful substances to protect your health.  

At Woven, we consider rattan to be an ideal choice for outdoor furniture given its strength, durability, and natural resistance to the elements.  That said, rattan will change outdoors developing a patina much like teak, and grow organic matter if exposed to the elements for prolonged periods.  We recommend a care routine to maintain its color and to keep pieces covered when not in use to prolong the life of your furniture. 

Yes, it’s best to cover your Natura outdoor furniture during inclement weather to prolong its life and your enjoyment. We partnered with Coverstore to create premium, tailored protective covers available for purchase for all our Natura styles and configurations. 

Unless exposed to extreme cold/winter weather, your rattan can remain outside during the winter with proper care. We recommend purchasing our custom covers and care kit to maintain and prolong the life of your pieces. 

We design for timeless beauty and longevity, but unlike the usual metal and plastic outdoor furniture, we recommend regular care and cleaning to prolong the life of your Natura pieces.  

If organic matter does grow, it is best to attend to it right away. Use a high-pressure hose nozzle to wash any lose debris from the surface. From your care kit, use the scrub brush and wash solution to scrub the rattan to clean the surface. Wash matter away with a hose and repeat as necessary. If any matter persists, use the sanding block to carefully remove any stuck on debris, being mindful not so sand through the top layer of rattan. Once your rattan is clean and dry, use the brush or rag to coat on a layer of oil. Let the oil saturate for 5-10 minutes and then wipe off the excess. Allow to fully dry, then cover furniture with protective cover.

When not exposed to extreme weather and UV rays, rattan will turn more golden brown over time. Exposed rattan will weather similar to teak, meaning it will grey, grow organic matter, and may eventually crack. If cracks do develop, rattan still maintains its structural integrity and can be used for years to come. Maintenance is key in prolonging the life of your rattan furniture.

Our cushion covers are easily removable and machine washable up to 85 degrees F.  Use a mild non bleach detergent.  For hand cleaning vacuum off the cushions before using mild soap and water and a nonabrasive cloth.  

Made from regenerative rattan, the frame of the Natura is 95% compostable. The bio-based latex foam is 100% compostable, while the fabric and batting in the cushions are 100% recyclable through our take back program.  

At the end of its life, use a hammer to break up the individual parts of the frame and remove any visible screws if they have not already decomposed. Place rattan pieces in your compost bin and place screws into the recycling bin. Strip the fabric and batting from the cushion, and place cushion foam inserts in the compost bin as well. The fabric and batting can be recycled through our take back program.  Contact customer service at info@wovenshop.com  to receive a FEDEX label.
